Breeding & Hatching Guide

Breeding Basics

Breeding is a core mechanic that lets you produce new sprites with desired stats, moves, and traits. Understanding the breeding system is essential for competitive play.

Egg Groups

Two sprites can breed if they share at least one egg group. Each sprite belongs to 1-2 egg groups. Common egg groups include:

  • Monster — Most reptilian and beast-like sprites
  • Field — Mammalian and ground-dwelling sprites
  • Water — Aquatic sprites
  • Fairy — Cute and magical sprites
  • Flying — Wing and bird sprites
  • Mineral — Mech and rock sprites

IV Inheritance

When breeding, the offspring inherits some IVs from its parents. With the right items, you can control which stats are passed down:

  • 3 IVs are randomly inherited from the parents
  • Using a Power Item guarantees one specific IV is passed down
  • Destiny Knot passes down 5 IVs from both parents combined

Shiny Breeding

Shiny sprites are extremely rare color variants. The base odds of hatching a shiny are very low, but you can improve your chances through:

  • Shiny Charm — A key item that boosts shiny rates
  • Masuda Method — Breeding sprites from different regions
  • Chain Breeding — Hatching more eggs increases odds
Tip: Use the Egg Group Calculator on the Bilibili Wiki to quickly find compatible breeding partners for any sprite.
